From youth lessons to senior meals, Partners of Parks fuels the people who power Long Beach parks.
Every child deserves a safe place to learn and play. Our Youth Scholarship Program removes financial barriers by covering registration fees of up to $150 per child per session.
The assistance applies to swim lessons, summer camps, dance, art, sports, and other classes offered through Long Beach Parks & Recreation.
Since 2019 generous donors have provided more than $100,000 in aid to over 900 local youth.
The Donna Helsley Food Fund was formed in partnership with the Long Beach Gray Panthers in May 2020 to provide grocery gift cards to low-income seniors living in affordable senior housing projects and those participating in senior center food programs as well as connecting them to additional food resources. Partners of Parks funded $5,000 to match Long Beach Disaster Relief funds of $5,000.
Since the inception of the Food Fund in 2020, more than $35,000 has been raised and distributed in the form of grocery and meal gift cards to 735 seniors in Long Beach. Almost all of the recipients stated that just $50 enabled them to eat for the last two weeks of the month when they normally ran out of food.
Through the Donna Helsley Senior Food Fund, Partners of Parks supported weekly meal programs for older adults in Long Beach parks and community centers.
Since the COVID-19 Pandemic efforts winded down, the Donna Helsley Food Fund has transitioned to supporting our elders through the holiday season with a Holiday Concert Series at the City’s senior centers featuring local girl scout groups and the Jazz Angels!
These gatherings offer more than nourishment—they provide social connection, dignity, and a sense of belonging. Whether meals are served onsite or delivered to homebound seniors, your support ensures our neighbors age with joy and respect.
